Powerful Books To Better Your Life

I always want to better myself especially when it comes to my finances.  These ten books I’ve found are really powerful in what they can teach and I’ve learned a lot from them and I wanted to share them with you.   I’ve read most of these books and it’s important to not just read them, but to actually implement the ideas and lessons taught.  These are finance and self help books.

1.)  Total Money Makeover

Total Money Makeover

I found this book absolutely amazing.  Really well written and thought out.  This book gave me ideas to help me pay off my debts and put a plan together for paying my home off quicker.  The book is based on real life results by real people and is written with simple, straightforward ideas.

Dave Ramsey is an author and radio host, he helps people manage their finances and take control of their money and spending habits.  The beginning of this series goes over the success stories of people that have used Dave Ramsey’s system.   Going through the book you’ll learn things like:

  • Paying off your mortgage early
  • Setting up an emergency fund
  • Prepare for your children’s college fund
  • Paying off your debt
  • Invest in your future through IRA’s and 401k’s

Dave Ramsey’s advice is easy to understand and very easy to do,  you just have to be disciplined and do it.  After taking his advice I now have a plan in place for my future and children’s future and being more financially responsible.

2.)  The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People

7 Habits of Highly Effective People

Another book I just recently finished is the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.  I thoroughly enjoyed this book written by Stephen R Covey.  For me personally it was hard to get into this book, but into a couple chapters I was amazed.  The title pretty much speaks for itself and showed me ways to help myself with some powerful lessons in personal change.

When released, the book was an instant success because people reading it realized they were headed in the wrong direction.  Many people have used this book to change the way they think and created better more successful lives.  Not only successful in their jobs but with their family and friends.

3.)  Think And Grow Rich

Think and Grow Rich

One of the Most Read Self-Help Books of All Time

4.)  How To Win Friends And Influence People

How To Wind Friends and Influence People

I really enjoyed this book.  One of the best selling self help books of all time,  I learned 12 ways to win people over, 9 different ways to change peoples mind and it also teaches you how to make people like you.  If you’re a business minded individual or do a lot of public speaking this book is definitely for you.

People with Social Anxiety will also benefit from this book as it will give you simple techniques to introduce yourself to other people and hold a conversation.   Dale Carnegie has written this book wonderfully and I found it very easy to read and very informative.

5.)  The Power of Your Subconscious Mind

The Power of you Subconscious Mind

This book written by Dr Joseph Murphy gives you the tools you need to unlock your subconscious mind.  I recently read this book and results came quickly for me as I implemented what I learned, I’ve improved my finances, relationships and I just feel so much better about myself.

6.)  Listful Thinking

Listful Thinking

Most people are stressed and just don’t have time to relax.  They’re running here and running there, no time for anything.

This book is great.  It teaches you how to be more productive and successful by using lists.  I learned tips:

  • Saving Time
  • Getting Organized
  • Improving Productivity
  • Saving Money
  • Reducing Stress

7.)  The Millionaire Next Door

The Millionaire Next Door

The Millionaire Next Door identifies seven common traits that show up again and again among those who have accumulated wealth. Most of the truly wealthy in this country don’t live in Beverly Hills or on Park Avenue-they live next door.

Here are some points, according to the book most people who are millionaires aren’t people who are careless with their money, they are people who are:

  • Careful with their energy and their time

  • Financially Independant and not worrying about Social Status

Secrets of the Millionaire Mind

This book teaches you about your money “blueprint” ingrained in all of us.  Our blueprint determines our financial well being.   Some takeaways I got out of this book are:

  • Rich people believe they create their lives while poor people believe life just happens
  • Rich people are disciplined and committed to being rich, poor people just wish for being rich
  • Rich people focus on possibilities, poor people focus on the obstacles in front of them
  • Rich people associate themselves with successful, positive people. Poor people keep sticking with negative unsuccessful people.
  • Rich people conquer fear.  Poor people let fear stop them
  • Rich people never stop learning.  Poor people think they already know everything

This book taught me how to change my money spending habits and save more.  Really good book, and so was the price.

9.)  The 4 Hour Work Week

The 4-hour work week

We’d all like a 4 hour work week and the rest play and traveling.  The book teaches how the author went from working 80 hours a week to making $40,000 a month working only 4 hours a week.  It gives practical tips and case studies of how real world people changed their lives.  Some takeaways from the book:
